Job Description

The Food Service Worker at Franklin Medical Center supervises inmates to ensure that meal and food items are prepared in accordance with production plans. Responsibilities include training workers, assigning and coordinating work, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards. Job Responsibilities

1. Adhere to and maintain preparation and production guidelines according to standards, reviewing logs regularly.
2. Supervise inmates in food preparation and tray assembly.
3. Ensure timely and efficient meal service, meeting all guidelines.
4. Participate in meal preparation and serving.
5. Distribute recipes and direct inmates in their use, ensuring proper cooking procedures.
6. Ensure proper portions and accommodate dietary requirements.
7. Obtain and review daily population counts with staff.
8. Follow security policies, ensuring storage areas are locked and tools are secured.
9. Manage work and sanitation schedules, ensuring adherence by staff and inmates.
10. Assist with inventory, food storage, and requisitions.
11. Follow food handling and storage standards, including HACCP policies.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years old.
• At least one year of food prep or related experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience and experience with inmates are pluses.
• Ability to motivate and supervise in a correctional environment.
• Ability to obtain a food safety certification.
• Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and follow safety policies.
• Must qualify for and maintain security clearance.

This role may involve physical activity such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, and may require uniforms or PPE.
