This position is located in the Nutrition and Food Service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Position Description Title/PD#: Food Service Worker/PD05951A
Work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well-lighted but usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units.

Experience: Evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position must be demonstrated on your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Your qualifications will be evaluated against the screen out element, which assesses basic ability to perform the work. Those meeting at least the minimum will be considered further. The remainder will be ineligible.
Volunteer work and unpaid experience are credited if they demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge.
A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours/week. Part-time experience is credited proportionally. Indicate duties and hours worked clearly.
