Primrose School of West McDonough in Stockbridge, GA is hiring a Food Service Teacher – School Chef to plan and prepare nutritious meals for ages six weeks through Pre-K. You will cook from scratch, manage food safety, and collaborate with teachers to support daily mealtime routines.

The role requires 3+ years in food preparation, ServSafe and CPR/BLS certifications, and inventory management. You will lift up to 40 lbs, purchase supplies, and uphold Bright from the Start standards while

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in food preparation and cooking.
• Criminal background check and drug testing required.
• Willing and able to obtain ServSafe Certification, Basic First Aid and CPR, and Bright from the Start training.
• Experience in quality and quantity food preparation and inventory control.
• Knowledge of nutrition, basic food preparation, and sanitation.
• Strong teamwork, communication, organization, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children from six weeks through five years.
• Maintain and track food allergies; communicate with teachers daily about allergies.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and keep kitchen clean after meals.
• Manage and purchase all food and paper goods; keep inventory records.
• Comply with Bright from the Start and ServSafe regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and support to parents and children.
• Work with school leaders and teachers to keep mealtime schedules.
• Provide occasional classroom support to maintain staff-to-child ratios.

Role: Food Service Teacher - School Chef at Primrose School of West McDonough - 450 Mt. Olive Road Stockbridge, GA 30281

Nurture a child's first five years by:

• Planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children ages six weeks through five years (infant through Pre-Kindergarten), at a school with capacity for up to 212 children — including cooking meals from scratch and using fresh fruits and vegetables


• Maintaining and tracking food allergies for each child, ensuring all children receive only allowed foods, providing alternatives for allergies or dietary restrictions, and communicating identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery


• Following proper food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures, and maintaining a clean kitchen after preparation and serving of meals


• Managing and purchasing all food and paper goods, and keeping inventory records as required by local and state agencies


• Complying with all Bright from the Start and ServSafe regulations


• Providing excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward parents and children


• Working with school leaders and classroom teachers to keep daily mealtime schedules and routines consistent


• Providing occasional support in classrooms to help maintain required staff-to-child ratios, as needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably in a child care center, elder care or assisted living facility, or K-12 school


• Comprehensive criminal background check and drug testing required


• Willing and able to obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification, Basic First Aid and CPR, and other Bright from the Start mandated training


• Experience in quality and quantity food preparation and inventory control


• Knowledge of nutrition, basic food preparation, and food sanitation


• A teamwork mindset, strong communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability


• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, plus standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motion

Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM (Different schedules available)
