Job summary

The Educational Alliance Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Food Service Manager at Manny Cantor Center in New York, NY.

You will oversee breakfast, lunch, and take-home meals for the Weinberg Center for Balanced Living, ensuring safe, timely operations and staff coverage. You will coordinate with MCC Kitchen, Facilities, and program leadership to meet menus, inventory, and regulatory requirements; supervise staff and volunteers; manage procurement and training; and support special events.

Qualifications

• At least four (4) years of food service experience, including supervising staff and/or volunteers and overseeing high-volume meal service.
• Current NYC Food Protection Certificate (FPC) required. Must have the physical license in possession.
• Current CPR/AED certification required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by Educational Alliance.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, HACCP principles, and NYC DOHMH requirements.
• Experience with inventory, purchasing, and documentation; capable of audits or inspections.
• Ability to coordinate daily operations and provide clear directions to staff and volunteers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across diverse groups; proficient with standard office apps.

Responsibilities

• Oversee breakfast, lunch, and take-home meal service, ensuring safe, efficient operations and a welcoming dining environment.
• Coordinate with MCC Kitchen to ensure adequate food, tableware, supplies, and funder-approved menus and recipes.
• Respond to feedback and work with leadership and facilities to address service needs and improvements.
• Supervise staff, interns, and volunteers, including scheduling, guidance, and training on food safety and program expectations.
• Plan volunteer staffing and training for daily meal service and events with the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Manager.
• Address staff/volunteer concerns and keep leadership informed for follow-up.
