The Weinberg Center for Balanced Living (WCBL) is an innovative Older Adult Center serving adults ages 60 and older, whose primary languages include English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, and Russian. Integrated into EA’s Manny Cantor Center (MCC) and funded by the New York City Department for the Aging (NYC Aging), WCBL offers a holistic program designed to meet the varied needs, abilities, and interests of older adults. WCBL’s programs make it a premier destination for older New Yorkers, supporting physical and nutritional health, artistic development, cultural and social engagement, and providing critical social services that help members age in place with dignity.
We are seeking a full-time Food Service Manager who will oversee and actively participate in the Weinberg Center for Balanced Living (WCBL) older adult meal program, including breakfast, lunch, and take-home meal operations. Ensure efficient workflows, timely meal service, appropriate staff coverage, and adherence to food safety and program requirements established by the NYC Department for the Aging, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), HACCP, and other applicable federal, state, and local standards. The Food Service Manager will c oordinate daily staffing and distribute responsibilities among food service staff, interns, and volunteers to maintain uninterrupted meal service. Manage the overall dining room environment, proactively engaging with older adult members, volunteers, internal and external partners, and other visitors. Additionally, this role will work cross-functionally with Older Adult Programs staff and other MCC departments, including Kitchen and Facilities staff and the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Manager, to coordinate food service operations, address equipment and building issues affecting food service areas, and support effective procurement and purchasing processes.
This position’s regular schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Occasional schedule flexibility or working of additional hours is required to supportrt WCBL’s contractual operating requirements and special events. This may include limited evening or weekend coverage for Cooling Center activations, special events programming, or to meet required annual operating days. Such schedule adjustments are infrequent, typically occurring no more than a few times per year.
