Job Summary
Manage and coordinate the day-to-day food service operations of an assigned school site; ensure compliance with District, State, and Federal requirements and laws regarding nutrition, sanitation, safety, and record-keeping; select, assign, schedule, supervise, direct, and evaluate food service personnel.

Essential Functions, Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of quality food production and service.
- Manage, coordinate, and oversee daily food service operations; analyze effectiveness and ensure compliance with laws and safety procedures.
- Maintain quality standards for food presentation and service in a pleasant environment.
- Prepare menus, estimate and order food and supplies, monitor expenditures, and maintain budgets.
- Select, train, and evaluate food service staff; conduct training for new employees.
- Inspect kitchen and lunchroom daily for health and safety compliance.
- Plan work schedules and coordinate daily tasks for efficiency; handle staffing calls and substitutes.
- Train employees on food handling, equipment use, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain and review records, inventories, logs, and reports; input data into computers as needed.
- Supervise food preparation and distribution; coordinate with school activities and events.
- Operate point of service systems for meal counting and claiming.
- Communicate with students, staff, and external organizations regarding food services.
- Participate in meetings and workshops.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent; four years of food service experience; progress toward G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law.
Licenses and Other Requirements
Complete training for certification of beginning school food service personnel.
Days Worked and Salary
184 days; paid according to the approved salary schedule of the Newport Board of Education.
