About This Position
Responsible for overseeing all food service operations at multiple sites, promoting quality, sanitation, safety, and delivery service to ensure superior service in a correctional environment. Plan, direct, and coordinate routine and non-routine activities in the daily operations of multiple food service units.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Implement financial and operational plans supporting overall objectives.
- Assist with new programs to increase satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Verify and analyze satisfaction systems to improve operations.
- Maintain a proactive human resource function to motivate, train, and develop staff, ensuring compliance with labor regulations.
- Ensure managers maintain adequate inventory levels, and compile and cost inventory for financial reviews.
- Use mathematical skills to determine actual versus estimated needs; forecast based on reports and experience.
- Forecast needs of satellite locations, prepare orders, and ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries.
- Ensure food is prepared on time to meet standards and is visually appealing.
- Supervise location personnel to ensure proper portions and cost-effective service.
- Supervise safe use of kitchen equipment.
- Ensure cross-training of staff for all locations and emergencies.
- Manage team development to upgrade skills and enhance staff retention.
- Establish good rapport with staff, administrators, clients, and the public.
- Review and approve leave requests.
- Assist managers and other district managers as needed.
- Perform duties assigned by the Regional Vice-President.
- Participate in professional organizations.
- Other duties as needed.
What You'll Need
- 4-6 years management/supervisory experience in food service, preferably in a corrections environment.
- Background in business or culinary programs; experience in finance and accounting preferred; bilingual a plus.
- Knowledge of government regulations related to operations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills for financial reporting and record-keeping.
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience maintaining activity files.
- Experience creating sales pro forma and supporting sales efforts.
- Knowledge of basic PC operations and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
