Job summary

IU Health University Hospital is seeking a supplemental/PRN Food Service Worker to support meal preparation, plating, service and transport for patients, families, physicians and staff.

The position offers rotating shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM with eligibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays. A high school diploma or GED is preferred; prior food service experience is a plus, and ability to operate kitchen equipment plus physical endurance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
• No experience required; prior food service experience preferred.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must wear protective equipment/clothing as required by regulations.
• Adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements include reaching, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, carrying and lifting supplies weighing 35 lbs or more up to 80% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, plates, serves, and transports food and supplies to provide high satisfaction for patients, family members, physicians, team members and the public.
• Responsible for timely, accurate, and courteous service.
• Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.
• Maintains sanitation, cleaning and infection control practices to ensure food safety.
