Job summary

University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a Food Service Worker I to assist in food preparation, service, and sanitation on a campus dining team.

The role involves following recipes, maintaining clean facilities, training student staff, and supporting dining operations during shifts including 12:30–9:00 PM on weekdays, with possible weekends. ServSafe certification is preferred; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Ability to handle and lift heavy kitchen utensils and supplies (e.g. 40 pounds)
• Good physical health.
• Some knowledge of and experience in basic food preparation, service, and/or sanitation methods and a desire to provide high-quality customer service are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food according to instructions.
• Follow proper food handling techniques.
• Assist in completing the Serving Line Worksheets.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and secure working area.
• Set up service/preparation areas as assigned.
• Direct, help train, and assist student employees in food preparation and service.
• Clean and replenish the service/preparation areas, dining room, and dishwashing/pot-and pan areas during and after service.
• Complete required training.
• Help the department constantly improve and reach its vision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
