Job summary

The Next Door is hiring a Food Service Assistant in Nashville, TN. You will support kitchen operations, assist the Food Service Manager with meal planning, purchasing, and daily prep. This role requires daytime hours and weekend availability, serving 40–100 clients per meal shift.

Responsibilities include cooking, cleaning, FIFO inventory, and coordinating with case managers and volunteers to provide a safe, respectful, and supportive dining environment for residents.

Qualifications

• 1-year minimum comparable food service experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in large quantities to feed 40–100 clients.
• Complete cleaning of kitchen and dining room after meal service.
• Receive and put away food deliveries according to FIFO best practices.
• Assist with monthly inventory of all food and kitchen supplies.
• Ensure that kitchen and dining room is clean and sanitized per Health Code standards.
• Enforce kitchen safety and cleanliness guidelines with residents.
• Work closely with Case Managers to coordinate resident attendance for kitchen orientation and chores.
• Work with Volunteers to show appreciation and enhance their experience.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
