Job summary

The Next Door Recovery in Nashville is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support daily kitchen operations under the Food Service Manager. You will assist with meal planning, food preparation, cooking, serving and cleaning to ensure safe, nutritious meals for residents.

The role requires self-motivation, adherence to Health Code standards, and the ability to work with Case Managers and volunteers to coordinate kitchen activities.

Qualifications

• Must be self-motivated and able to make quality, ethical decisions independent of supervision.
• 1-year minimum comparable experience preferred.
• Day shift; weekend work required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in large quantities for 40-100 clients.
• Complete cleaning of kitchen and dining room after meal service.
• Receive and store food deliveries according to FIFO practices.
• Assist with monthly inventory of all food and kitchen supplies.
• Ensure kitchen and dining room are clean and sanitized and comply with health codes.
• Coordinate with case managers on kitchen orientation and chores and with volunteers.
