Job Description:

The Food Safety Specialist will be a critical part of the Food and Beverage team, reporting to the Food Safety Manager. In this role, you will work with Food Service and Operations teams to ensure our stores maintain a food-safe environment and culture. You will collaborate with the food service, marketing, legal, and equipment teams. You will be the main point of contact for our territory and regional managers regarding local health department inspections.

• Analyze and assess food safety risk and apply measures and controls to mitigate risks to an acceptable level.

• Contribute to the design of new products, store layouts, equipment, processes, and procedures with risk assessments, establishing food safety requirements, and review and approval processes.

• Provide regulatory guidance and support for retail & promotional merchandise.

• Measure, analyze, and report operational compliance to food safety systems standards through audits and inspections, directly or by operations teams.

• Support and maintain operations assessment tools

• Support improvement, corrective, and preventative actions with operations teams.

• Assist stores in obtaining and maintaining their regulatory compliance with Food Safety Manager certifications (ANSI approved and accredited), Food Handler, Allergen Awareness, and other locally required food safety certifications.

• Maintain compliance records of those required certifications and coordinate with the legal department on store license renewals and applications as needed.
