Job summary

Smithfield Fresh Meats Corp. is seeking a Quality Assurance/Food Safety professional to inspect processes, enforce HACCP and USDA rules, and ensure product safety from start to finish.

You will monitor sanitation, temperatures, GMPs, and documentation while collaborating with production teams to resolve issues and drive improvements. Ideal candidates have a strong QA background in meat processing, familiarity with USDA regulations, and excellent communication skills to train and support plant

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; internal candidates may have waived requirements with 4+ years at Smithfield.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, food science, meat processing, and USDA regulations.
• Ability to create and maintain technical documents and reports.
• Experience with monitoring equipment and data analysis for regulatory inquiries.
• Fluent reading and writing in English; proficient with office software.
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Quality verifications through routine inspections (process, metal detection, cooking, chilling).
• Drive continuous improvement by addressing deficiencies and root causes.
• Develop and enforce HACCP programs; monitor critical control points.
• Ensure USDA regulatory requirements are met and maintain documentation.
• Communicate issues, propose corrective actions, and train plant staff.
