Key Responsibilities

As a Food Production Supervisor for dnata Catering, you will oversee the efficient and high-quality production of food items for airline passengers. Your main role includes managing and leading a team of production staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, in executing food preparation, cooking, and packaging processes. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards. Additionally, you will monitor and maintain food safety and hygiene, adhering to industry regulations and guidelines. Your expertise in production planning, inventory management, and kitchen operations will be vital in optimizing workflow, reducing waste, and maximizing productivity. You will collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of ingredients and materials. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential to address operational challenges and ensure smooth operations, contributing to the success and reputation of dnata Catering.

The company operates in 127 airports, offering ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services across 35 countries on six continents. We serve over 300 airline customers daily, handling over 1,900 flights, moving over 8,500 tons of cargo, booking over 16,000 hotel stays, and uplifting over 320,000 meals each day.

You Will

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and motivate the AM or PM food production team.
  • Ensure on-time performance.
  • Develop and streamline processes related to accessibility, availability, cost, quality, and production assurance.
  • Guarantee systems for optimal productivity.
  • Participate in food tasting sessions as required.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, HACCP, Medina, FDA, and internal regulations.
  • Manage daily operations of food production Supervisors and assembly staff.
  • Communicate effectively to meet food cost goals and ensure on-time delivery of finished products.
  • Plan work schedules to ensure timely delivery.
  • Manage multiple priorities within short timelines.
  • Calculate labor standards based on flight schedules and meal volumes.
  • Maintain budgeted labor goals, including headcount and working hours.
  • Identify operational issues and propose solutions to the Production or Operations Manager.
  • Present solutions to supervisors, department heads, and management.
  • Note: Employee will be exposed to extreme cold (35-40°F).

Nonessential functions:

  • Other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this position is $68,640 - $73,920 with weekly pay, excluding incentives. Salary offers depend on location, experience, qualifications, and training.

You Have

Education: Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing, preferably in complex food production environments like airline catering.
  • Effective communication skills for groups and individuals.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables.
  • Knowledge of high-end food practices is a plus but not required.
  • Proficient in culinary terminology, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to interpret safety and operational documents and write routine reports.
  • Flexibility to work independently or in teams.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups.

Additional Demands:

Requires multitasking under tight deadlines, attention to detail, punctuality, and following instructions. The role involves constant focus, productivity, and quick work.

Physical & Work Environment:

Regularly standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Exposure to extreme cold (35-40°F) and variable noise levels indoors.
