Job summary

The Salvation Army in Keokuk, IA is seeking a full-time Food Pantry Assistant to support daily operations. The role includes greeting visitors, collecting client information, and assisting with referrals and temp aid as needed.

Responsibilities also cover answering phones, data entry, stocking pantry and personal care items, and backup driving for Feeding America pickups. Must pass background checks and have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to be flexible and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
• Experience using payroll/timekeeping web-based systems preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to handle confidential information.

Full- Time Monday- Friday 8:00 A.M.- 4:30 P.M., Pay Rate: $12.00 Per Hour

Summary/Primary Purpose: Food pantry including the intake process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors/clients in a friendly manner.
• Answer phone and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
• Secure and enter necessary client information into database.
• Ensure pantry equipment is stocked and cleaned.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Responsible for sorting and stocking personal care items.
• Serves as a backup for the Social Services Case Worker and assist clients with various needs including, but not limited to intake interviews, Client Referrals, Rent/Utility Assistance and
• Hotel Vouchers.

• This position will serve as a back-up driver for the Feeding America pick up.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
• Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
• Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications:

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
