Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory in Keokuk, IA is seeking a full-time pantry assistant. Typical hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $12.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering phones, data entry, stocking pantry items, and assisting with client referrals, rent/utilities, and hotel vouchers. A valid driver's license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to be flexible and multitask across tasks.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Administrative tasks: data entry, 10-key, filing.
• Good written and spoken communication; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Ensure pantry equipment is stocked and cleaned.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Sort and stock personal care items.
• Assist Social Services Case Worker with referrals, rent/utilities and hotel vouchers.
• Back-up driver for Feeding America pickup.
• All other duties as assigned.

Summary/Primary Purpose:

Food pantry including the intake process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors/clients in a friendly manner.
• Answer phone and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
• Secure and enter necessary client information into database.
• Ensure pantry equipment is stocked and cleaned.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Responsible for sorting and stocking personal care items.
• Serves as a backup for the Social Services Case Worker and assist clients with various needs including, but not limited to intake interviews, Client Referrals, Rent/Utility Assistance and
• Hotel Vouchers.

• This position will serve as a back-up driver for the Feeding America pick up.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
• Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
• Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications:

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
