Job summary

Harvest Food Group LLC in East Chicago, Indiana, is seeking a Safety Coordinator to oversee safety, health, and environmental programs in our refrigerated food manufacturing facility. You will help ensure OSHA/EPA/FDA compliance, promote a strong safety culture, and drive proactive risk prevention.

You will coordinate training, conduct inspections, manage incidents, maintain SDS and chemical inventories, and work with Production, QA, and HR to strengthen safety performance across operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–4 years of experience in a safety role within manufacturing.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and training.
• Ability to work in a refrigerated manufacturing environment.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules as needed.
• Preferred: experience in food manufacturing environments with GMPs and FDA regulations.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with safety program execution and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and GMP walkthroughs; document findings and corrective actions.
• Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions (new hires, GMP/food safety, emergency procedures).
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory.
• Track incident metrics, trends, and KPIs; support incident reporting and corrective actions.
• Support safety committee meetings and cross‑functional collaboration (Production, QA, HR).
• Maintain emergency response plans, evacuation maps, and related documentation.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field
