Job summary

Dollar General in Nashville, TN is seeking a proactive Store Manager on Duty to oversee the Food Department and overall store operations. You will maintain inventory accuracy, ensure merchandise presentation, and deliver quality customer service while safeguarding assets and enforcing safety policies.

In this role you’ll train and supervise staff, step in for Store Manager or Assistant Manager as needed, and manage cash handling, refunds, and store cash controls to support financial integrity.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and deposits.
• Knowledge of safety and security policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Willingness to comply with SOPs and company policies.
• Ability and willingness to obtain required certifications in food handling.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Food Department and store operations as Manager on Duty.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and appealing merchandise presentation.
• Ensure a safe working environment and assets protection.
• Train staff and supervise in the absence of Store/Assistant Manager.
• Authorize refunds and overrides; ensure cash accountability and deposits.
• Ensure scheduling coverage and staff readiness.
• Direct and assist with unloading trucks and new merchandise flow.
• Ensure adherence to cash handling procedures and store security.
