Job summary

Smith & Wollensky in Chicago seeks a General Manager for the Front of House to lead the service team, hire, train, and coach staff, and ensure exceptional guest experiences.

The role requires strong leadership, adherence to food safety and alcohol service standards, and effective management of labor costs and scheduling. This is a full-time, on-site position with growth opportunities within the restaurant group.

Qualifications

• Hospitality degree preferred; high school diploma required.
• ServSafe Food and Alcohol Certification required.
• Prior experience in a restaurant or hospitality position is required.
• Strong leadership and guest-service mindset are essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct the FOH service department, including hiring, scheduling, assigning and directing work.
• Train, coach, counsel, and discipline staff; conduct performance reviews and address staff issues.
• Address guest complaints promptly to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation standards.
• Oversee labor costs, scheduling systems, and use of POS/HIS systems as applicable.
