Job summary

Johnston County Department of Social Services is seeking an Income Maintenance Supervisor II to oversee Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) application processing. You will supervise staff, ensure timely, accurate determinations, and coach team members on complex eligibility issues.

Role requires strong knowledge of FNS policies, NC FAST, and supervisory principles. You will monitor performance, implement improvements, and coordinate with leadership to maintain quality service for residents.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of FNS eligibility policies, rules, and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of the NC FAST system and its application to FNS eligibility.
• Considerable knowledge of eligibility determination, verification, income budgeting, deductions, and case documentation.
• Knowledge of federal and state requirements governing FNS.
• Knowledge of QA principles and methods for preventing and correcting errors.
• Knowledge of supervisory principles, coaching, and workload management.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex policies and procedures.
• Ability to analyze case information, reports, and performance data to identify trends and errors.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage deadlines and workload.
• Ability to provide clear technical assistance to caseworkers on FNS eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Guide and direct FNS application processing staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Monitor staff performance, workload, timeliness, accuracy, and policy compliance.
• Provide training, coaching, and policy updates to FNS staff.
• Develop corrective action plans when performance does not meet standards.
• Participate in procedures, training materials, and workflow improvements.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and staff development of FNS staff.
• Communicate with leadership, staff, customers, and stakeholders about processing improvements.
• Review reports to identify trends, backlogs, and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain documentation and ensure required verification in NC FAST.
• Engage in audits and quality improvement activities as assigned.
