Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead aerospace programs in Alabama. You will manage scope for test campaigns and flight components, develop resource-loaded schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and program risks, and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule to support on-time delivery.

You will collaborate across departments, interface with NASA customers, harness analytics and reporting tools, and drive continuous improvement in Earned Value Management and production readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar is required.
  • ABET preferred for engineering role.
  • 4+ years in thermal/fluids systems, test engineering, or project management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with spacecraft development, production, or operations preferred.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.; security clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project scope for test campaigns and flight component production.
  • Develop, manage, and report resource-loaded schedules, production budgets, staffing needs, program risks and variances.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules within the Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Manage hardware status for internal and external demand.
  • Manage budgets and implementation of capital equipment and facility projects.
  • Collaborate across departments to collect data for decision-making.
  • Interface with NASA customers to provide testing schedules and insight.
  • Maintain software tools, analytics, and reporting for performance metrics.
  • Reduce and close risks and identify opportunities.
  • Partner with the business office to ensure timely product delivery to customers.
  • Manage program metrics and reporting tools covering budgets, engineering, equipment, procurement and production schedules, status reports, and resource plans.
  • Support program reviews and deliverable products by setting expectations, gathering inputs, and creating final products.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time.

Job description

  • Develop and maintain project schedules within the Integrated Master Schedule
  • Manage hardware status for internal and external demand
  • Manage budgets and implementation of capital equipment and facility projects
  • Collaborate across departments to collect data for decision-making
  • Interface with NASA customers to provide testing schedules and insight
  • Maintain software tools, analytics, and reporting for performance metrics

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or similar), Business Administration, or Operations Management from an accredited college or university
  • ABET preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in thermal/fluids systems, test engineering, or project management
  • Desire to learn thermal/fluids systems project management, new processes, test engineering, and spacecraft development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Experience with launch vehicle, spacecraft, or satellite development, production, or operations preferred
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management preferred
  • Exceptional with Excel and manual data analysis preferred
  • Experience driving a product from concept development into production preferred
  • Experience with Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, CREO, Windchill, Confluence, Jira, Tableau, SQL, MySQL, Power Query, and Power Pivot preferred
  • Technical assessment included in interviews
  • Background check required
