Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Thermal/Fluids Analysis Engineer to lead CFD and thermo-fluid analyses for cryogenic propellant systems within the MK1 Fluids subsystem. You will collaborate with engineers across design, build, test, and integration phases, collect inputs from stakeholders, and publish Windchill reports to guide engineering decisions.

The role requires strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics, plus hands-on experience with ANSI Fluent/Flow3D

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 4-5 years of relevant thermal/fluids analysis experience.
• Experience with CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent or FLOW3D.
• Proven ability to generate and present analysis results for technical trades.
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with cryogenic, two-phase, and/or gaseous fluid systems.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status under export control rules.
• Must pass Blue’s Standard Background Check.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 8 years aerospace experience preferred.
• Prior spacecraft fluid systems experience preferred.
• Process automation scripting in VBA, MATLAB, Python, or FORTRAN.
• Experience with liquid hydrogen/oxygen systems preferred.
• Experience with Jira and Windchill.
• Experience with propulsion components and associated hardware.

Job description

• Conduct thermal and fluids analysis to define performance and operations within the MK1 Fluids subsystem
• Resolve technical challenges
• Support analysis efforts through the complete development lifecycle from design through build, test, and integration
• Collect analysis inputs from stakeholders and responsible engineers
• Develop or modify CFD thermo-fluid analysis models of cryogenic propellant for vehicle configuration and behavior
• Generate and present design review and trade study content to subsystem, vehicle, business unit partners, and customers
• Maintain models demonstrating the impact of engine interface conditions on vehicle subsystems
• Post-process analysis results and draw engineering conclusions
• Author and publish analysis reports in Windchill to support engineering decision-making
• Validate models using vehicle and component test data
• Construct and vet analysis models
• Perform system-level trade studies
• Document and present results to stakeholders

Requirements

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• 4-5 years of relevant thermal/fluids analysis experience
• Experience utilizing CFD analysis tools such as ANSYS Fluent or FLOW3D
• Proven track record generating and presenting analysis results to support technical trades
• Deep understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics fundamentals
• Experience with cryogenic, two-phase, and/or gaseous fluid systems
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee under export control regulations
• Required to pass Blue’s Standard Background Check
• Preferred: M.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• Preferred: 8 years of relevant aerospace experience
• Preferred: Prior spacecraft fluid systems experience
• Preferred: Process automation scripting skills in VBA, MATLAB, Python, or FORTRAN
• Preferred: Experience with liquid hydrogen and/or liquid oxygen systems
• Preferred: Experience utilizing Jira and Windchill
• Preferred: Prior experience with fluids and propulsion components including solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pumps, engines, thrusters, feedlines, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
