Job summary

Jobtailor in New York seeks a Mechanical/Aerospace engineer to implement product definition, design, procurement, and production of environmental control and vent fluid subsystems and components.

You will conduct fluid and structural analyses, coordinate with cross-functional teams, drive design for manufacturability, and manage plans for cost, schedule, risk, and verification through testing and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Requires a B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience with spacecraft or launch-vehicle fluid systems.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and QA for tubes/piping and machined components.
  • Design using 3D CAD and ASME Y14.5 GD&T; includes FEA reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement product definition, design, procurement, and production of environmental control and vent fluid subsystems.
  • Perform fluid and structural analyses to characterize system behavior.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure interoperability and meet requirements.
  • Drive manufacturability; implement upgrades from root cause analysis across flight hardware.
  • Plan and manage cost, schedule, and risk to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Oversee testing, verification, and data analysis for development and qualification.

Job description

  • Implement product definition, design, procurement, and production of environmental control and vent fluid subsystems and components
  • Conduct fluid and structural analyses to characterize component and system behavior
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure your systems work together and meet requirements, resolving issues with calculated risk
  • Drive design for manufacturability. Implement upgrades for flight hardware identified through root cause analysis, manufacturing, testing, flight, and cost reduction opportunities
  • Build and manage project plans including cost, schedule and risk management to ensure timely delivery
  • Oversee component and system level testing, verification, and data analysis as part of development, qualification and hardware acceptance
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design, analysis, or test
  • Solid understanding of propulsion and fluid components such as valves, quick disconnects, and fittings
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components
  • Design experience using 3D CAD (Creo preferred), 2D and 3D drawings per ASME Y14.5 GD&T along with detailed analysis reports using Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
