Job summary

Blue Origin envisions millions of people living and working in space, developing reusable, safe, low-cost vehicles for Earth. This role leads helium fluid system design for a launch vehicle upper stage, guiding the product cycle from concept through verification and risk-informed solutioning of high-pressure hardware.

You will coordinate with cross-functional teams, drive manufacturability, manage plans, and oversee testing and analysis to ensure successful hardware acceptance and mission

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design, analysis, or test.
  • Solid understanding of propulsion and fluid components such as valves, quick disconnects, and fittings.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components.
  • 3D CAD (Creo preferred), 2D and 3D drawings per ASME Y14.5 GD&T along with detailed analysis reports using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Implement product definition, design, procurement, and production of environmental control and vent fluid subsystems and components
  • Conduct fluid and structural analyses to characterize component and system behavior
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure your systems work together and meet requirements, resolving issues with calculated risk
  • Drive design for manufacturability. Implement upgrades for flight hardware identified through root cause analysis, manufacturing, testing, flight, and cost reduction opportunities
  • Build and manage project plans including cost, schedule and risk management to ensure timely delivery
  • Oversee component and system level testing, verification, and data analysis as part of development, qualification and hardware acceptance
