Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Flow Cytometry Lab at Duke University Hospital. The role involves performing routine and complex tests, maintaining instruments, and ensuring quality in a second-shift setting.

Two years of MLS experience and appropriate certification are required to join our multidisciplinary team dedicated to accurate diagnostics and patient care. This position supports the laboratory's compliance and ongoing education efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in lab science or medical technology.
• Generalist certification required for general laboratories; specialty certification required for specialty laboratories.
• MS in lieu of certification accepted for Biochemical Genetics Laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex lab tests to obtain diagnostic data.
• Operate manual or computerized instrumentation.
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation per SOPs.
• Prepare patient samples with correct identification for testing.
• Troubleshoot assay problems as directed by senior staff.
• Document quality control and quality assurance results.
• Assist in development of new medical laboratory tests and techniques.
• Train new staff and serve as a resource to students and employees.
