Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist, Advanced in the Blood Gas Lab at Duke University Hospital. Monday - Friday, First Shift, performing routine and advanced laboratory tests to support diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, Generalist certification, and two years of MLS experience. Eligible for a $7,500 commitment bonus with a 1-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology.
• Generalist certification required for general laboratories. Generalist or specialty certification required for specialty laboratories.
• Two years of experience as a certified MLS.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Operate manual or computerized instrumentation and calibrate/maintain instrumentation according to SOPs.
• Process patient samples, ensure quality material for testing, and report analytical results.
• Provide technical guidance and instruction to staff and students as needed.

Education
