Job summary

Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories in Durham, NC, seeks a Flow Cytometry Medical Lab Scientist for the second shift (Tue–Fri, 11:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m.). Perform routine and complex tests, operate and maintain instrumentation, and ensure quality across the lab.

ASCP certification is strongly preferred. The position offers a second-shift differential and a $7,500 commitment bonus, with opportunities to contribute to method development, training, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Generalist certification required for general laboratories; specialty certification for specialty labs.
• Master of Science may substitute certification for Biochemical Genetics Laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tests in clinical laboratories using standard techniques and equipment.
• Operate manual or computerized instrumentation and calibrate/maintain equipment.
• Process patient samples with proper identification procedures to ensure quality testing material.
• Document quality control and quality assurance results and report data accurately.
• Provide technical guidance and instruction to students, interns, and staff.

Education

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology

Generalist certification

Master of Science in lieu of certification
