Job summary

VHB is expanding its Transportation Team in Florida and seeks a Transportation Highway Design Engineer to work from Orlando or Tampa. The role involves delivering diverse public, private, and institutional roadway projects in collaboration with FDOT, local governments, and developers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of professional transportation engineering experience with a focus on roadway/highway design for state DOTs.
• PE license expected.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver roadway/highway projects from planning to final design and construction support.
• Develop roadway geometric designs: horizontal/vertical alignment, profiles, cross sections, superelevation.
• Prepare roadway plan sets per FDOT FDM and CADD standards.
• Develop 3D roadway corridor models using ORD for visualization and documentation.
• Perform earthwork calculations and quantity takeoffs with Quantity Manager.
• Develop MOT plans and pavement designs; manage variations.
• Coordinate roadway design with drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environment.
• Prepare and manage technical design docs, reports, specs.
• Support construction administration: RFIs, shop drawings, field issues.
