Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an experienced Transportation - Highway Engineer to join our team. We work on FDOT and local agency projects ranging from small intersection improvements to complex interchanges, with design-build and P3 opportunities.

You will develop roadway designs, prepare construction plans, coordinate utilities, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of highway/roadway design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• P.E. license in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, and procedures.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, InRoads, OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD.
• Experience with 3D design and alternative delivery methods (Design-Build, P3) is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset and a desire to grow professionally.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, client meetings, and other WRA offices.

Responsibilities

• Develop roadway designs and produce construction plans for FDOT and local agency projects.
• Design horizontal and vertical alignments, roadside features, and MOT plans.
• Coordinate utilities, prepare specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Support design-build and alternative delivery projects, including P3 initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
