Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Devens, MA is seeking a Technical Trainer to support on-the-floor training, certify operators, and coordinate certification processes with site leadership. The role builds training materials, conducts multi-shift sessions, and helps onboard new hires while promoting safety and continuous improvement in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include tracking training, developing SOPs and workflows, and collaborating with Ops L&D to ensure effective learning

Qualifications

• 1–3 years’ experience conducting/ leading training in a manufacturing setting.
• 2–4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of Learning Management Systems preferred.
• Microsoft Office experience preferred (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms).

Responsibilities

• Completes daily technical training on the factory floor to certify team members.
• Partners with site leadership to support New Hire Orientation/onboarding training.
• Owns tracking and evaluation of training using the company’s standards and LMS tools.
• Supports site-specific learning solution creation (SOPs, guided workflows, training aids).
• Develops, builds, and maintains relationships with trainees and leaders.
• Participates in the hiring process by assessing candidate skills and experience.
• Conducts training on all shifts and promotes safety-minded behavior.
• Has Train the Trainer certifications and supports certification processes alongside Ops L&D.
