Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

This role requires an Associate's Degree, state license, NBRC certification, BLS, and ACLS within 90 days of hire; NICU experience with NRP is a plus. Strong data entry and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Credentialed by NBRC as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
• NRP Certification (only for NICU) for trained therapists.
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Must have computer skills and be proficient with Windows-style applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on age-appropriate criteria for neonatal to geriatric patients.
• Maintains professional certifications and up-to-date knowledge of procedures.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Other related duties as required.
