Software Placement Group (SPG) is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract-based role in Austin, TX. The float position supports multiple local locations, with initial assignment projected for 3 months and potential for permanency. On-site, full-time schedule; mileage reimbursement and benefits available.

The candidate will perform blood draws, specimen labeling, processing, and transport, while ensuring compliance with safety and physician orders across locations in the Austin area.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification for governing state
• Minimum 6 months venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital
• Minimum 1 year experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using needles
• Follow physicians' orders accurately
• Match requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order
• Check test requisitions against labels for accuracy
• Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department training
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results
