The position may float to Brawley and Calexico as needed, with mileage reimbursement and a clean driving record required. Ideal candidates will have 6 months of venipuncture experience in fast-paced settings, valid Phlebotomy

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification (state where employed) required.
• Minimum of 6 months venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles; understand physician orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and transport to maintain integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings.
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
