Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist in multiple Phoenix/East Valley surgery centers. You will select and place instruments, pass instruments, retract tissue, and provide sterile supplies during procedures.

Responsibilities include prepping for cases, maintaining instrument order, aiding in turnover, and supporting the department administratively as needed. Must have a HS diploma and BLS certification, with strong dexterity and composure in stressful situations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS required. Where applicable, must be registered with State Regulatory Agency.
• Must have manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
• Must be conscientious, organized and able to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon and patient.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures; pulls instruments and supplies and ensures good working order.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs; passes instruments and retracts tissue during surgery.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions; disposes of sharps and trash and counts sponges.
• Ensures accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
• Assists with OR turnover; stocks and cleans operating rooms.
• May provide administrative tasks for the department.
