Job summary

Upperline Health is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to assist physicians across our Orange, Newport Beach, and Santa Ana clinics. You will support clinical and administrative tasks, handle patient intake, vitals, and X-ray duties as required, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care.

The role emphasizes flexibility, problem-solving, and strong communication within a podiatry/orthopedic setting, with the potential to engage in care coordination and mobile clinic

Qualifications

• Experience as Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Podiatry or Orthopedic clinic experience preferred.
• X-ray experience is a plus.
• Clinical care coordination or care management experience is ideal.
• Geriatric patient care experience preferred.
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience using EMR systems (Athenahealth preferred).
• Strong communication, grammar and interpersonal skills required.
• Exceptional customer service preferred.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Place patients in exam rooms and prepare them for physician consults.
• Complete intake: medical, social and surgical histories, illness history.
• Document vitals and notes in the EMR (Athenahealth).
• Assist in the exam room and take X-rays as needed under a podiatric physician.
• Restock exam rooms and dispose of waste; clean/sterilize rooms daily.
• Coordinate care for Upperline Plus patients and health maintenance visits.
• Handle telephonic outreach and care coordination tasks.
• Support referrals, orders and appointment scheduling; travel to nearby clinics if needed.
