Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support RNs in daily patient care within a hospital setting. The role includes assisting with hygiene, feeding, mobility, vital signs, and documentation in the EMR, under RN supervision.

The position involves admission/discharge tasks, bedside care, specimen collection, and equipment restocking. Must follow infection control and age-appropriate care guidelines as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills

• Certification Addendum: hospital-based certifications may be required

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measures and documents vital signs and intake/output; documents in EMR.
• Performs rounding and communicates observations to RN.
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Cleans equipment and work areas; restocks nursing area.
• Performs patient positioning and transferring with proper technique and assistive devices.
• Maintains skin integrity and uses patient supplies and appliances as needed.
• May remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and bladder scans as directed by RN.
• Practices infection prevention including hand hygiene and proper attire around isolation patients.
