Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and minimum 1 year proven retail sales, call center, customer service, or telesales experience.
• Ability to travel between branches as needed.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with diverse customers.
• Ability to handle difficult customer conversations effectively.
• Well-organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work under time constraints in a team environment.
• Proficiency with internet user-level technology.
• Bilingual based on branch needs (preferred).
• Proven referral and/or sales ability (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Educate customers and explain features and benefits of Consumer and Business Banking solutions.
• Engage customers to bank with us and promote digital capabilities.
• Explain criteria used to decide loan applications.
• Complete servicing tasks for Consumer and Business Banking relationships and identify opportunities to solve banking needs.
• Follow the branch sales process and provide customer-focused advice.
• Proactively reach out to retain and expand Consumer and Business Banking relationships.
• Maintain adherence to customer service standards and deliver solutions in moments that matter.
• Engage in lobby management and welcome customers.
• Introduce appropriate banking partners when opportunities arise.
• Support AML/BSA/KYC processes and identify potential fraud.
• Log and resolve customer complaints; review overdrafts.
• Complete customer transactions accurately and document interactions.
• Comply with risk controls and contribute to audit points.
• Promote M&T Bank brand and internal controls.
