Job summary

Wilsonart in Oregon seeks a Floater to learn and perform tasks across material handling, shipping/receiving, press operator, and inspector roles. The position requires lifting up to 100 lb, working in a loud, hazardous environment, and following safety standards.

You will support production by forecasting materials, aligning inputs, and maintaining logs. This role offers growth opportunities and exposure to multiple manufacturing lines in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to lift 50–100 lbs repeatedly.
  • Experience with manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate press to cure material according to cycle specs.
  • Evaluate the daily press schedule.
  • Log production information (material, type, size, run, settings).
  • Ensure material is available for production; align raw materials.

Job Summary

The Floater is responsible for learning all jobs along the TFL line, including material handler, shipping/receiving, press operator, and inspector. Performs basic troubleshooting on the line and performs other tasks as needed. Please review job description for Material Handler, Shipping/Receiving Assistant, and Press Operator for further details.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operates press to cure the material according to the press cycle specifications
  • Evaluates the daily press schedule.
  • Logs production information such as: material produced, type, size, run, control settings, etc.
  • Ensures all material is present for the production process.
  • Lays up and aligns the raw materials according to the production process.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
  • Knowledge of the pressing manufacturing process and component materials utilized.
  • Knowledge of the level of quality material must meet.
  • Knowledge of mathematics sufficient to calculate hourly production targets and actual.
  • Skill in operating a lift truck.
  • Skill in establishing effective working relationships with other personnel.
  • Skill in identifying colors and shades.
  • Ability to identify patterns and finishes.
  • Ability to lead people.
  • Ability to read and accurately record information on production schedules/logs.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules and material assets.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision and as a team member
  • Ability to interpret dials, graphs, charts, etc.
  • Ability to visually detect product imperfections and defects.
  • Ability to communicate well in oral and written forms at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to learn new skills.
Minimum Requirements Education

High School Graduate or GED

Working Conditions Physical Requirements

Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight 50 to100 lbs.

Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness.
