Job summary

Independence Health System in Latrobe, PA seeks a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care in the Short Stay and Recovery Room units. The role involves coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, documenting care, and supporting patients and families throughout the perioperative process.

The RN will float between units, participate in call rotations to ensure 24/7 post-operative coverage, and uphold infection control and patient safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• One-year critical care or PACU experience.

• Maintain professional knowledge by attending education workshops and reviewing publications.
• Assure quality of care by adhering to standards and regulations.
• Protect patients by infection control and storage procedures.
• Document patient care services in records.
• Maintain continuity among nursing teams through communication.
• Establish compassionate environment and provide emotional support.
• Promote patient independence through teaching and care goals.
• Ensure operation of equipment via maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Travel locally between System locations as needed.
• Participate in call rotation to cover 24/7 post-operative care.
