Job summary

Veterans Health Administration’s Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Float Pool. The RN will float between Community Living Center, Medical/Surgical, Surgery, and Primary Care units as staffing requires, supporting patient education and care coordination.

The position emphasizes direct and indirect patient care, collaboration with the healthcare team, and involvement in quality improvement and education. ED Help/EDRP might apply for eligible applicants.

Responsibilities

• The RN - Float Pool provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple units.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
• Coordinates patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction across the continuum of care.
• Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to influence care outcomes.
• Supports unit/program level quality improvement initiatives and customer service programs.
• Provides guidance and oversight of licensed nursing staff as appropriate to the setting.
• Leads in nursing education, orientation, competencies and quality improvement efforts.
