Job summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Puget Sound, is seeking a dedicated Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while covering day-to-day staffing shortages.

You will assess patients, implement physician orders, manage IV therapies, coordinate with NAs and LPNs, and document in the EHR, with ongoing competency requirements and mandatory trainings. This on-site role supports a collaborative, team-based care environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care.
• Completes mandatory trainings and uses patient care equipment safely.
• Performs nursing procedures, assesses patient condition, and implements orders in a timely and complete manner.
• Develops and updates plan of care based on nursing assessments and the ANA standards.
• Provides complex wound care and manages IV therapies, telemetry monitoring, and administration of medications.
• Serves as primary staffing resource to COVID unit when needed and collaborates with NAs and LPNs.
