Job summary

The MetroHealth System is seeking a Medical Assistant to work in its float pool across ambulatory clinics in Northeast Ohio. The role involves patient scheduling, pre-authorizations, registration, and basic clinical tasks.

You will assist with screenings, vital signs, phlebotomy support, and vaccine administration under supervision. Required is a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Medical Assistant program, and BLS certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant program and work experience in Medical Assisting or acute patient care with externships.
• Completion of military medics program with honorable discharge (if applicable).
• Current BLS certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients and obtain pre-authorizations.
• Register patients and gather/analyze payor data.
• Perform basic medical screenings and vital signs.
• Collect specimens, administer vaccines, and wound care as needed.
• Assist providers with sterile and non-sterile procedures.
• Support with splinting and bandaging.
• Communicate effectively with RNs, LPNs, NPs, and MDs.
