Job summary

Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, is hiring a Float Pool CNA (Med-Surg Tele CNA) to support nurses in medical-surgical and telemetry units during night shifts. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, support mobility, and ensure patient safety while on heart monitors.

This full-time role requires a CNA certificate, BLS, and basic medical terminology knowledge, with at least six months acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintain.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Minimum six months of acute care hospital or physician's office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Monitor and record vital signs (BP, HR, temp, RR, SpO2).
• Assist with mobility and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Maintain telemetry/ECG lead connections and report alarms or concerns.
• Observe patients for changes and promptly notify nursing staff.

Location: Providence Medical Center – Kansas City, KS
We are seeking a Float Pool CNA, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele CNA. The Float Pool CNA assist nurses by providing basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. Float Pool CNAs play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery.

Responsibilities

• Basic patient care: help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating
• Vital signs monitoring: take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation
• Mobility assistance: help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices.
• EKG lead maintenance: ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning — though Certified Nursing Assistant’s (CNA’s) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nurses
• Observation: monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notify the nursing staff

Qualifications

• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred
