Job summary

Spectrum Health’s Royal Oak Hospital is seeking candidates for a nursing support role within the float pool. The position covers 36+ inpatient units, including adults, pediatrics, and women’s health, with a daytime, part-time schedule.

As an Observer, you’ll monitor patients who require constant observation, assist with safe transport and clerical tasks, and document care in the EMR under RN supervision. We value teamwork and safety in a Magnet-designated environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
• Current CNA certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
• Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who requires constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
