Qualifications

• BLS CPR certification through American Heart Association.
• ADN or higher nursing degree (BSN) or signed learning agreement required upon hire.
• Analytical skills necessary to assess a patient's condition and utilize the nursing process.
• Ability to interact with patients, families, medical personnel and other health care team members.
• Ability to perform effectively in stressful, urgent situations.
• Cognizant of customer needs related to culture, age, and diagnoses.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan.
• Directs care and determines use of any assistant for direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and staff; documents plan focused on outcomes.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents patient responses to nursing interventions and updates care plan accordingly.
• Uses best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.
