Job description

Grant Aviation is an Alaskan regional air carrier serving rural Alaska since 1971. With bases in Bethel, Emmonak, Dillingham, King Salmon, Cold Bay, Dutch Harbor, Kenai, and Anchorage, Grant Aviation provides scheduled air transport of passengers, cargo, and mail, as well as air ambulance and charter service. Grant employs approximately 400 people.

We believe that air travel isn't a luxury in Alaska - it's a necessity - and we are committed to creating a safe, friendly, and reliable experience for all our customers.

Our company is built upon respect for our customers, employees, and communities, and we constantly work to improve our operations to ensure smooth travel and enjoyable experiences. We are professional, while staying true to our Alaskan roots and commitment to the personal touch.

POSITION: FLIGHT STANDARDS MANAGER

Join our team at Grant Aviation as a Flight Standards Manager, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the standardization of all flight policies and procedures in accordance with applicable regulations. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you'll oversee the development and maintenance of our flight standards to uphold our commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.

Your responsibilities will include creating, reviewing, and revising an advanced qualification program to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You'll develop and implement advanced qualification programs, supervise and train ground and flight instructor personnel, and coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure consistency in our pilot training programs.

As a Flight Standards Manager, you'll enforce departmental safety objectives, liaise with regulatory authorities, and serve as a company flight instructor and check airman as required. You'll work closely with the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, Assistant Chief Pilot, Flight Training Manager, LMS Manager, and Pilot Records Clerk to maintain compliance and uphold our high standards of excellence.

We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor's Degree, a Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument Rating, and experience in Part 135 or 121 operations. Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, along with flexibility and adaptability, are also key attributes we're seeking.

If you're passionate about aviation and dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety and excellence, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity at Grant Aviation. Come be a part of our dynamic team, where your contributions will help shape the future of air travel in Alaska.

LIFE ON THE JOB

As a Flight Standards Manager at Grant Aviation, you'll be based primarily at our headquarters located within the Ted Stevens International Airport. Your typical workweek will consist of shifts scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, offering a stable routine with occasional flexibility for evening or weekend shifts based on operational needs. While most of your work will be office-based, you may occasionally need to travel to remote stations for inspections or meetings.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve overseeing the development and maintenance of flight standards, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing leadership and guidance to ground and flight instructor personnel. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, and other key team members to shape the future of our flight operations.

During your initial months on the job, you'll undergo comprehensive training to familiarize yourself with our operations, procedures, and systems. You'll work closely with experienced team members, learning the ins and outs of flight standards management and gaining proficiency in programs commonly used in aviation.

As you settle into your role, you can expect to transition to a more self-sufficient working style, supported by an open-door policy from senior team members. While you'll have autonomy in your day-to-day tasks, you'll also have access to guidance and support whenever needed, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

As Grant Aviation continues to grow and evolve, there will be opportunities for career advancement within the Flight Operations team. You'll have the chance to develop your skills and expertise, with ongoing support from management to identify and pursue career growth opportunities within the department. Additionally, you'll play a key role in supporting corporate-wide projects and initiatives, contributing to the long-term success and expansion of the organization.
