Job summary

White Bear Area YMCA is seeking a Swim Instructor (age 16+) to teach swimming lessons and water safety skills to children and adults. This part-time role offers paid training and a free YMCA membership, with evening and weekend shifts available.

The instructor will provide instruction in a safe, positive environment, maintain student supervision, and ensure adherence to YMCA policies and procedures. On-site attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Completion of YSL V6 modules: Observe & Communicate and Orientation Principles of Youth Development.
• YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification.
• BL S/CPR + AED for the Professional Rescuer; First Aid and Oxygen Certification within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide swimming instruction to students of various ages and abilities.
• Maintain constant supervision of students and assist swimmers as needed.
• Know and communicate pool policies and procedures.
• Understand the YMCA Swim Lessons program and level progression; assess and place students appropriately.
