Job summary

Nurse Next Door San Mateo is seeking compassionate Home Care Aide staff to provide nonmedical, in-home support for seniors. You will assist with daily living activities, transportation, meal prep and companionship in the client’s home or a care setting.

No experience required; paid training is provided and assistance with California Home Care Aide registration is available. Flexible shifts include mornings, afternoons, evenings and overnight to fit your life.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age or older.
• Current registration with the California Home Care Aide Registry.
• Completion of a criminal background check and disclosure of any history.
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing and no active TB.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured and frail.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance and/or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist clients with personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
• Assist clients in bed, transfers and ambulation.
• Assist with prescribed exercises taught by health personnel.
• Meal planning and preparation and assist with eating.
• Assist clients to bathroom or with commodes and incontinence care.
• Perform household tasks and provide companionship.
• Provide medication reminders when applicable.
• Report changes to the administrator or care designer.
• Complete records of services performed.
• Drive to appointments or run errands.
• Remain alert and responsive to client needs and training requirements.
