Job summary

Roanoke College is seeking an On-Call Catering Staff member to support catering operations, including setup, service, and cleanup for events. The role requires a professional appearance, strong guest interaction, and flexibility as event volumes vary weekly.

Responsibilities include safety and sanitation compliance, equipment maintenance, and timely delivery. Certifications (ServSafe, TIPS) and alcohol handling are required or obtainable within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
• Must complete required training (in-person or online).
• Proficient with computer hardware and software; Outlook, Excel, Word; timeclock.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in catering or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Positively represent Roanoke College to guests and team members.
• Apply and enforce workplace safety and sanitation standards as instructed by VDH and Dining.
• Set up, service, and clean catering events; manage equipment.
• Flexible scheduling to accommodate event volumes and requirements.
• Open, dispense, transport, and inventory alcohol; follow ABC policies.
• Complete event documentation and post-event cleanup.
• Collaborate with supervisor to ensure event requirements are met.
