Job summary

Willow Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is searching for a Full-Time Flex Cook to join our dietary team. The role involves preparing and cooking meals for residents, following planned menus and dietary guidelines, and ensuring meals are served on time with high quality.

You will support kitchen operations across shifts, maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards, and collaborate with the dietary team to ensure smooth meal service in a resident-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous cooking experience preferred; healthcare, long-term care, restaurant, or institutional kitchen experience is a plus.
• Valid ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection Manager certification preferred, or ability to obtain as required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and special dietary requirements preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on facility needs.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Dependable, adaptable, and committed to providing excellent service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for residents according to planned menus, dietary guidelines, and physician-ordered special diets.
• Assist with meal preparation and kitchen operations across shifts as needed.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining quality, taste, and presentation.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, and preparation procedures.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, infection control, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Keep kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas clean, organized, and sanitized.
• Assist with serving meals, kitchen cleanup, and closing procedures as needed.
• Work collaboratively with dietary team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Adapt to changing schedules and staffing needs to support consistent meal service.
